Remembering the Words of Ronald Reagan

HLR-RonaldReagan_400Nancy Reagan was recently laid to rest beside her beloved husband, President Ronald Reagan. Her body now lies in repose next to the love of her life and one of the most inspirational leaders America has ever known.

They are together in an alcove at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in the beautiful hills of Simi Valley, California.

They lie before a wall on which is inscribed words spoken by President Reagan at the dedication of his library in 1991: “I know in my heart that man is good. That what is right will always eventually triumph. And there’s purpose and worth to each and every life.”

The President was on solid Biblical ground when he said that the right will eventually triumph. He was also correct when he said that every human life has purpose and worth.

But what about his statement, “…man is good…”?

Are human beings basically good, evil, or something in-between?

The Bible has a great deal to say about this. If you want to understand yourself and your fellow human beings; if you want to understand your children or your parents; if you want to understand history, politics, literature, psychology, or even rock and roll, you need to know what the Bible says about humanity’s glorious origin and its present sorry state.

And you need to understand our “one hope.” … Jesus Christ became a man and gave His life to span the chasm, the abyss created by The Great Schism. He is our only bridge to salvation and eternal happiness.
