Throughout Scripture and history, there have been severe consequences for the lack of recognizing the importance of Israel, God’s chosen people and nation.
Here is what Greg Laurie says in his book “Signs of the Times” :
Looking into the future of the Jewish race, God told the Patriarch Abraham, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you.” And so it has been through history. Every nation that has risen up to strike Israel has paid the price. Egypt. Assyria. Babylon. Rome. And in more modern times Germany, Spain – and perhaps very soon, Russia…
At least one nation has stood by modern Israel, and it is the United States of America. We were the first nation to acknowledge her statehood, and we have stood by her since that day. I firmly believe one of the reasons God has blessed our country is because we have blessed the nation Israel and the Jewish people. And when I see our country turning against .. Israel, backing away from her, or siding with her enemies, I have very great concern.
This is a crucial point for nations throughout the world that contemplate deserting, warring with, or, in the case of Iran, destroying Israel. God said in Zechariah 12:
(v3) And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.
(v9) It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. (NKJV)
When God uses terms like “cut in pieces” and “destroy”, we must absolutely believe that this will come to pass. Thousands of years of His prophesies and their fulfillment have proven God to be accurate – exactly 100% of the time.
Do we ever think of the United States as a country that would come against Israel? Current events indicate that we are not a rock solid supporter, and in fact are showing signs of support for Israel’s enemies. Maybe that’s why there is no mention of the U.S. as a nation in the Bible. Maybe we are one of the nations that will surely be “cut in pieces”.
