The Belligerent Bear

Last week, in the Baltic Sea off the coast of NATO-member Poland, two Russian fighter jets “buzzed” a United States destroyer, the USS Donald Cook. And not just “buzzed” in a convivial, welcoming manner, but in an aggressive, in-your-face style. In fact, they flew so close to the ship that the jets’ airflow caused wakes in the water. The week previously, a Russian fighter jet aggressively challenged an American RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft flying in international airspace over the Baltic Sea.

Target: Israel

Aviv Kochavi, Israel’s head of military intelligence, recently stated that, at any given time, more than 200,000 missiles are aimed at Israel. And even though Israel has developed a vaunted missile defense system, Iron Dome, its glaring weakness is that it can be overwhelmed by large numbers of missiles. And 200,000 is a large number of missiles. Many of those have been built by arguably the world’s most dangerous terrorist organization, Hezbollah. Of course, Hezbollah is the de facto ruler

Shifting Ground

There’s no need for me to tell you that this general election season has been one of the most bizarre in our history. With close to two dozen candidates vying for the presidential nominations of both major parties, it’s been a little like watching an overcrowded horse race. But as we approach summer, the fields have dwindled to a total of five between the two tickets. Suffice it to say that in the interminable multitude of candidate debates, the topics

Remembering the Words of Ronald Reagan

Nancy Reagan was recently laid to rest beside her beloved husband, President Ronald Reagan. Her body now lies in repose next to the love of her life and one of the most inspirational leaders America has ever known. They are together in an alcove at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in the beautiful hills of Simi Valley, California. They lie before a wall on which is inscribed words spoken by President Reagan at the dedication of his library in

Death of Judge Threatens Constitutional Precepts

The recent abrupt death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia focuses attention on the looming fight for the rule of law upon which the United States of America is founded. What is at stake — literally — is whether the U.S. Constitution with all of its guarantees and protections will continue to be our firm foundation. Or will it become, as the Left in America wants, simply a rulebook that can be amended at the whim of any judge to

Northern Thunder: Dress Rehearsal

What is happening right now in the Middle East is unprecedented as far as I’m concerned. Of course, if you just get your news from the American mainstream media, you’ve no idea to what I’m referring. If it’s not promoting the Palestinians or denigrating the Israelis, singing the praises of John Kerry or listing the transgressions of Benjamin Netanyahu, lamenting setbacks to the BDS movement (Boycott, Divest, Sanction Israel) or applauding Iran’s return to global acceptance, then it’s buried deep

Increased Drug Use Predicted Over 2000 Years Ago

America’s eyes have [recently] been on New Hampshire. But we’ve been so focused on the outcome of the presidential primaries, we have not noticed the dark specter that is rising there. According to several recent polls, the number one concern for New Hampshire residents is not who will be the Democrat or Republican nominee. It’s not the economy. It’s not even President Obama’s number one concern: climate change. Surprisingly, the issue that is uppermost for the greatest number of New

When Rape is Okay

The migrant crisis in Europe has lately been appearing more frequently in the headlines. That’s mainly because some European nations are being forced to take steps to reverse the damage. In fact, some of the more liberal, multiculture-oriented nations are being overwhelmed by the human tsunami they have welcomed into their midst. But one of the more alarming and surprising results of this liberality is manifesting itself in Sweden. A recent study shows that for every 100 Swedish girls ages

Technology Won’t Rescue The World

The 2016 World Economic Forum, held annually in Davos Switzerland, ended last week. It displayed a bizarre blend of panic and political correctness. Each year, the WEF brings together more than 2,500 of the world’s elite, including many heads of state. They discuss pressing issues facing the world. These are the movers and shakers of business, government, and academia whose actions often have great impact on world events. This year’s discussions were chock full of political correctness, but there was

Abandoning Israel – Part II

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry recently admitted that Hezbollah has 70 to 80,000 rockets (all aimed at Israel, by the way), “…and much of it supplied, obviously, across the border from Iran through Damascus.” Yet he and President Obama proudly pushed the Iran deal through. Because, I think, to most Americans and Europeans, Iran having nuclear weapons is simply “theoretical.” We don’t feel threatened by it (though we should), so who cares? But Israel will be the target of
