The Mystery of the Magi

For many of us, Christmas is our favorite time of the year. But each year it grows more difficult to navigate the suffocating commercialism and secularization of the season to arrive at the genuine reason for the celebration: the incarnation of God as a human to become the sacrifice for our sins and make possible our reconciliation to God. I’m afraid we’ve lost our sense of wonderment at the unfathomable miracles that made possible the advent of our Savior. One

Unearthed Seal Reinforces Biblical Account

According to a report in  by Michael Bachner on December 3, 2015, “the first ever seal impression of a Judean king was unearthed in Jerusalem on .. December 2 at the foot of the southern wall of the Temple Mount…” It was the royal seal of King Hezekiah (727-698 BCE).  The inscription reads (in ancient Hebrew), “Belonging to Hezekiah [son of] Ahaz king of Judah”. “..this is the first time that a seal impression of an Israelite or Judean king has ever come

Being Secure In An Insecure World

As 2016 bears down upon us, many Christians are becoming more and more confused about what’s important, or even what’s true. At the same time, more unbelievers than ever are uneasy about what they see happening in the world. They know that things aren’t right and they’re feeling a sense of impending doom. So where do they turn? The only sure place to find answers is the Bible. In fact, the Apostle Peter said that the truth we get from

Islamophobia

President Barack Obama finally acknowledged last week that the war on terror has entered a new stage. But he’s still unwilling to admit just how serious and deadly the struggle has become. When two ISIS sympathizers attacked a Christmas party in San Bernardino, California, last week, they killed 14 and wounded 21. It may have been a defining moment for the President and the Left. When he addressed a nation in mourning last Sunday evening, he couldn’t resist the opportunity

ISIS Threat Evaluation

Once again, the call of “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is Greatest) rang out as a death cry in a major world city. Last week, Islamic terrorists attacked the City of Lights — Paris, France.  The terrorists hit six locations almost simultaneously. At least 129 were killed and more than 300 persons wounded. 99 of those are so critical, many of them may die, too.  ISIS has claimed responsibility. Paris went into full lockdown. France’s borders were closed. Its airspace completely restricted.

Why destroy Joseph’s Tomb?

Last month, the Palestinians once again firebombed Joseph’s Tomb in Shechem, Israel. This is at least the 10th time in the last 30 years the Palestinians have tried to destroy the tomb. Now, Muslims claim to revere Joseph and hold his tomb to be sacred. So why do they frequently try to destroy it? In Genesis, Joseph extracted a promise from his brothers that after his death they would carry his bones from Egypt back “…to the land which He

Refugees Forcing End-Times Technology

Any reasonably informed person realizes that Europe, and the U.S.A. to a lesser extent, is in the midst of an unprecedented refugee crisis. With the dramatic developments in the Middle East – the Syrian civil war, the explosion of ISIS and other terrorist armies, the entrance of Russia into Syria, among other things – millions of Middle Easterners and North Africans have been displaced. And hundreds of thousands of them are streaming into Europe seeking protection. Many are also taking

Increased Lawlessness is Prophetic

Something .. that is definitely “last days prophetic scenario” stuff is the dramatic increase of “lawlessness” in our world. Both individual and institutional. It is impossible to watch TV or read the paper without being almost overwhelmed by the evil that is flooding our world. From our kids in school to our highest government figures, the flouting of the laws of the land and the norms of society is commonplace. So much so that we are becoming desensitized to it. We’ve

The Truth About Palestine

Israel was conquered by the Babylonians who began deporting them in 586 BC.  Many years later the Persians conquered the Babylonians and the Jews remained under their control.  Centuries later, the Greeks, under Alexander the Great, defeating the Persians and ruled the known world.  Then in 63 BC, the area of Israel was conquered by Rome, and the Caesars now ruled the land.  During this Roman period of world history, Jesus ministered.  In AD 70, almost 40 years after Jesus’

Prideful to a Fault

It struck me recently that the seemingly endless debate of “Evolution versus Creation” contains an obvious irony on the side of Evolution.  First of all, it should be noted that, according to the Wikipedia definition, Creationism is the religious belief that the universe and life originated “from specific acts of divine creation.” For young Earth creationists, this includes a biblical literalist interpretation of the Genesis creation narrative and the rejection of the scientific theory of evolution.  Wikipedia contains this definition

Jerusalem Events are Fulfillment of Biblical Prophecy

And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.   ~Zechariah 12:3 As seen through multiple recent events, the nations of the world are increasing their efforts to weaken or remove Jewish sovereignty in Jerusalem. Is this a fulfillment of Zechariah 12:3’s prophecy that, at the End of

Syrian Refugee Crisis

One of the gravest of the many crises facing the world right now is the explosion of refugee movements. The Bible says that as we near the end times persecution of Christians, lawlessness, and false prophets would rise. Those conditions are exploding around the world. And each of them causes the flight of refugees. Even the rise of false prophets. A false prophet is someone who claims to speak for the one true God, but does not. Did you ever
