Have you noticed now many of our headlines contain the word security – Social Security, Homeland Security, cyber security, security procedures, security guards, national security, and personal security? The dictionary defines security as “freedom from care, anxiety, and fear; precautions taken to guard against harm.”
This dangerous world is obsessed with security, but our only real security is found in the Lord. We live in an unsafe world, and it’s more dangerous than the leaders of our government realize; for in addition to the visible dangers, we have an unseen enemy whose concealed armies are prowling around seeking to attack us. But Jesus Christ offers ultimate and eternal security—the kind that removes fear from the core of our hearts. Hebrews 6:19 (NIV) says, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
In an insecure world, the only true security is found in the omnipotent power of our heavenly Father who lets us enjoy abundant peace and security both now and forever.
